What is the name of your state?GA
I was wondering how long I have to wait for my ex to show up for his visitation before I am allowed to leave. I waited for six hours on Christmas for him to show up. I was afraid that if I left I would be charged with contempt for refusing his visitation.

question....

 Are you and him scheduled to meet at a certain place as to where there may be a witness to prove that you did in fact show up on time? By the way: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!

He is suppossed to pick our daughter up at my house. I have documented everything, including phone calls. The only way to prove I was here is my phone records or the word of my husband.

Sad to say but basically thats all you can do is write down everything and make sure to keep up with it all. Its best to have a witness but in some circumstances there just are none. As for what you have wrote you were doing the right thing by waiting but you may need to ask your divorce lawyer or some kind of attorney to give you a specific amount of time to wait. This is one hell of a way to go about this and trust me I have been there too so I feel for you and wish you the best of luck.

I have a hard time believing that any judge would expect you to wait more than an hour...you cannot put your life on hold to accompany him. Dont know if your papers read the same..but mine say that ex can pick son up ..or a competant adult of his choice. He could have called. He could have asked a friend/family member to help him out.
He has the rights/privileges and DUTY to his visitations.
My attorney and the judge told me...wait for a reasonable period if you can. Say 20 min..if possible...but its not like I dont have anything else to do..shop, meet with friends, out on a date....whatever!
I used to have to break dates with friends...cancel plans...because ex was going to be late..or be a no show..and did'nt plan on a babysitter.
I was told not to do this anymore.
BUT...be reasonable. If you dont have anywhere to go..then it wouldnt hurt if he was late occasionally. BUT do document and try to have a neighbor witness or someone.
