I was taking Now Foods Calcium/Magnesium for 18 months and in May this year I found out that it had 30-40,000 iu of vitamin D instead of 100 iu (it was recalled). This is a massive amount when taken continuously for a long time and it resulted in my vitamin D levels soaring from 30 to 135 during that time (over 100 is considered toxic) and I experienced symptoms related to vitamin D toxicity for over 6 months - fatigue, weakness, headaches and general muscle aches, confusion, patches of dry skin, stomach spasms and more.

I have documentation showing my soaring vitamin D levels as well as receipts for the purchase of the calcium/magnesium (by chance I had it tested just before I started taking this product).

I had to turn down cleaning work because I had so little physical energy as well as book-keeping work because I didn't have the mental focus during that time. Within a couple of months of stopping this product I was feeling much better and most of the symptoms had disappeared.

I finally got a settlement offer today from Now's insurance company for $1500. I'm not a gold-digger - but this does not even cover the lost income let alone make amends for how awful and debilitated I have felt for months (I had started to think there was something seriously wrong with me).

So now I am wondering how to approach this - should I tell them myself that this isn't enough? Or should I get a lawyer to contact them?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
