What is the name of your state? Minnesota

My position at my job was terminated. I still had outstanding hours to be paid for. I called them and they refused to pay. I then contacted the Dept. of Labor and they instructed me to request my pay in writing and they the company is required to pay within 48 hours. It has been two weeks and I have not seen anything. I have called the company numerous times and they continue to brush me off. What can happen if they don't pay within the time the Dept of Labor told me they should?

My response:

The company is saying, in effect, that you didn't work those hours and you can't prove otherwise. When, or if, you'll be able to prove those hours, only then will the DOL take action.

I now have a check!!

After going through the mail I received today I have found that the company has sent me a check for the hours that I worked. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get it from my request date.
