WTF happened to this thread?!? Hookers and blow? I don't think so.
The reason I'm asking is because my brother-in-law and his friend both got caught with 2 separate bags. His friend was driving, but they still took my in-law's license, too (didn't get thrown in jail, tho)!! I know another guy that got arrested for driving with a joint in his car; they threw him in jail, but they didn't take his license away. Strange stuff to take a person's license away that wasn't even driving, but whatever.
So their logic is that if you have it in the trunk, the punishment is even worse than if it were in the same area of the car as the passengers (cab). I understood that the heavier punishment for having it in the cab was reduced to the lesser punishment if there were less than 30g in the trunk, which the cops shouldn't even be able to get into anyway.
Anyway... I asked a pretty clear question, IMHO...
In Mississippi, if one has less than 30g in his trunk... what is the penalty? Is it different from being inside or outside the cab of a vehicle? The info I've found on NORML is confusing me.
So... again, I'm assuming that 30g or less in the trunk means you won't get thrown in jail, you'll get to keep your license, and you'll have to pay 10% to 25% of the fine you'd have to pay if it were in the cab of the vehicle. Extremely st00pit to me, but at least I'll educate my friends to be a little less st00pit about the law.
