I am the cp...the ncp is sending our 10 yr old on a flight to a
destination that there is no way of my getting to(4 hours away from where I live...I have asked
him please don't put the kid through this, but he is adamant
that I as the cp have to be there (knowing I don't own a car)
or face abandonment charges by the state... What am I suppose to do? he waited until 5 days before the flight to tell me where andI called the airline they said he would be sent back to ncp...butncp said he won't answer the phone so the state would be called saying he already checked into it...How much trouble am I going to be in?

Is there an airport nearer your residence? How did the child get to the father's? Wasn't there a previous understanding about the child's travel in both directions?

When a child flies "unattended", the person purchasing the ticket must give specific information about the person who will be meeting the child at his destination. I'm not sure what you can do, but I have a couple of suggestions.

Immediately send the father an "overnight" letter reiterating what you have told him about your inability to get to the airport.

Contact the airlines again. Insist on speaking to someone with some authority. Tell them you are the CP and you have not authorized the trip since you have no way of meeting the child at the airport he is being sent to and that he is NOT to be allowed on the flight

Contact the authorities in the city where the father will be taking the child to board the plane. Tell them the father plans to put the child on the flight KNOWING you can't be there to meet him.

Having done the above, if he is able to get the child on the plane and he is returned and they contact the state because they can't reach the father, I would think he would be the one answering to them.

I can't imagine anyone having so little regard for their child that they would even THINK about doing something like this. Your child's father sounds like a real jerk who has no sense of caring or responsibility toward his child. Keep us posted please, and good luck to you.

I finally did convince the ncp to let me buy a different ticket
and to not put the child on the flight I was not going to be
able to get him from...My attorney says to never send him
again unless the ncp buys a round trip ticket! When I asked
about that being in contempt of a court order she said let
him take you back to court...the air line was going to allow
my son on the plane no matter what I said to convince them
otherwise; and the boy would have been sent back to the
place of origination at which time the airline would have tried
to call the ncp(since he's the one that would've sent him)
to come to the airport to pick him back up and if they were
unable to get ahold of him then they would call childrens
services...I'm glad it's ending on a good note.
