Arizona: Hi, It will be 10 years since my non-violent felony conviction 2/1996, discharged 2/98. Being in the wrong place, wrong people, bad timing. No drug charges. I have been a law abiding citizen, and never in trouble before or after this incident. But still cannot get hired in a decent job because I'm an ex-felon. I have a college degree, an excellent employee, but when I check that line on the application "Have you ever been convicted of a felony" thats as far as it gets. What is considered a specified number of years in a community after sentencing? Please define Class B & C felonies? How can I get these non-violent convictions removed, closed, expunged, sealed, vacate the conviction, so I'm not always facing prejudice? Is there a statue of limitations where I can do something..I'm very tired of waiting tables, and want to do what I am educated to do. Any help will be appreciated.

Expungement/pardon

There are several thousand questions on this forum similar to yours. Thus, I have prepared a standard answer.

Standard answer: Expungement is generally granted for illegal arrests or unlawful convictions. Generally, pardons mean you are forgiven for the crime but it remains on your record.

Check with the governor or attorney general of your state to see how you can go about either of these procedures. Check with the Attorney General or the President for federal expungement or pardon.

You must remember that there may be private background check companies that have past offenses on their databases; those reports will never be expunged.

Class A is the most serious , the B,C,D .

I have been told that a Felony conviction never disappears . You can ask for Relief , such as to carry firearms from your State . You can vote if you have successfully done your sentence .

I would in the future , when you ck. you have a felony conviction , attach a written statement as you described in your post . Next to where you ck. felony conviction write see attachment .

Most Employers will give a sole a second chance , especially if you show you have turned your ways around .
