when does SOL start

What is the name of your state? TX

I just started reading this forum and have read a lot of posts referencing SOL? When does the clock start on SOL's? From reading a couple of other posts it looks like it starts on the date that the account first is considered delinquent? Do payments on the account change the SOL start date? Thanks for any advice you can pass along.

I believe the SOL starts as of the date of the last payment you made.

thanks! so even though the debt is probably 4-5 years old, the fact that there have been payments made irregularly would keep it so that there could still be 4 yrs left until the SOL is up?

the SOL starts based on your last payment made, not how old the debt is.

HOWEVER .....

in some states ANY payment made will restart the SOL !!

In others, the only thing that can legally restart the SOL is a new, written agreement.

Check your state's laws.
