Yes and no. In the long run it is but there is also the stress of seeing who gets to claim (although we fixed that by having mom claiming sd) and making sure the money is actually going into that account. In the end it is a great idea but I have to admit that sd's step-dad had a point, they work for that money and they do support the child all year long.. but ya know.. it's not for me to judge. MHO is that it's best to have it done every other year unless of court CS isn't current.

umm, don't YOU work for your money and support the child all year long too?

The reality is that, regardless of whose home a child is spending more time in, if the NCP is paying CS, they, too, ARE providing for the child's living costs. It's just moving out of their pocket into the CPs pocket to make the purchases for NCPs share of the child's food, clothes, etc. The fact that CP bought those groceries or clothes does not mean the NCP didn't contribute fairly toward the purchase.

Consider this: if Grandma gives your child money to pick out and buy something and the child goes out and buys it, didn't it STILL come from Grandma?

So, many couples consider it an equitable solution to altenate years.

Yes..but I guess it came out wrong..lol His point was that when it's would be her time to claim (because trust me... if the deal to put it in the account wasn't there, the parents would alternate years). The money goes into an account that mom set up a long time ago and I keep telling DH his name needs to be on that account. Not only does the tax money go in but until he changes it SS goes in there too. I told him even without the SS his name should be on the account because that decree says that tax money goes in there and if it's not then in essence she's stealing not only from their daughter but from him too.
