ohio...my husband's past keeps reappearing and ruining employment opportunities. Can anything be done about this? No trouble for 6 years

An excellent site for learning about expunging or sealing records

Hello there,

I'm not sure what the laws are in your state. In California, expungement has it's own mandates. We know of two people here, who had felony convictions out of Los Angeles and had their records expunged after proving they'd been crime free for a number of years. My husband's case is going through as well. We hired an attorney who says she will have no problem doing this, because his current history, educational achievements, and work history substantiate the fact he changed his life. In Los Angeles, they don't have the time to fight most cases for expungement, so it's not uncommon. The other alternative is to seal your record or request a pardon.

But here's a great site and do a google search on Expunging Records and you should come up with more:

Good luck to you and your husband. People change and law enforcement and judges realize this. If you can prove your husband has led a different life, they will look upon your case in a favorable light. The problem, as my attorney outlined it here, is when there are further felony convictions or the time has been too recent.

expungement

OHIO...Thanks airesflora...I'll check it out. I'm pretty sure he's probally not eligible he has had multiple felony charges. All when he was 18, he never served time, and only one charge remained a felony. He has been sober and troublefree for 6 years. He has been at the same work, gotten married, and had children...grown up. He is active at the church, even teaches Sunday School. He also visits jails and prison weekly to try to help inmates get sober.
