What is the name of your state? CA

Someone hit me and his insurance is going to cover it.

Who is the check made out to? Last time it happened to me it went to the body shop, however this time I plan on getting the money myself and fixing it myself.

Is there anything I can legally do to get the check and not have them send it to a bodyshop?

Thanks.

Since there isn't a lienholder, you have the right to ask that the check be made out to you personally. However, you should be aware that you could have a problem if you later find 'hidden' damage when removing the surface parts.

Thank you for that Jetx.

I know what you mean bud, however the bent part is clearly visible and there is NO damage to the welds or anything besides that part. I'll get a second opinion before I get to the repair process, but wanted to know what I should be prepared for when I call Monday.

Thanks again.
