**If all you want to do is ask a question, go to realtor.com and find a realtor in your location. Then just email them. Thats better than the yellow pages. That way you can interview them by email without wasting your time. When you find someone you like, make an appointment.

we are trying to get the house put on the market to sell. and the realtor that keeps cancelling and not showing up suggested that we use two different realtor companies to do a comparision, see if they come up with the same selling price (beings we don't know what we are doing). so i will just call a different realtor company to get my second quote. and decide which one i really want to work with. someone thats going to call and cancel ahead of time instead of me driving to the property we are wanting to sell then they don't show up, and didn't even bother to call and say they were going to be late or not able to make it at all.i even called the office after i waited an hour at the property once i got home. and left a message still no return call.

Oh hey, I agree. Those types of agents you don't want. I was just giving you some other options. I advise my clients to interview 3 realtors, ask for references and testimonies. Ask how many houses they have sold last year and how much experience they have and what their speciality is. If you go to realtor.com you can view realtors in your area, their website and email them for answers to these questions. Then when you find one or two or three that you like, set the appointment at different times.

I know this seems time consuming, but you are selling your home, its a big deal. You want someone to respect that and look out for your best interests.

Another idea that you can do from the comfort of your own home is look at yur Sunday real estate section and check out those Homes & Lands type magazines. Then go to various websites of the agents that advertise. Look for accomplishments, ie. top producer, highest awards and designations such as GRI, CRS, CRB etc. Then select the ones that you like and email them as Souix has suggested. When you email them list a few questions that you have and see how fast they respond and what their answers are. Then either call them or have them call you for a telephone chat. I do that all the time and have found many qualified and professional Realtors from all across the country.

o.k. I will get the magazines and check out their web sites. make my list and go from there.

the realtor finally called back and said s/he got lost and will hand it over to a realtor out of the same office that lives in my area. which s/he didn't even follow the directions I gave . the directions were bring this highway/road to a stop sign go straight - at 2nd stop sign turn left - go to 3rd stop sign turn right(north)- cross a bridge you will see this sign turn left - go past 2nd house turn left (road name) last place on the right (dead end road). which s/he was looking between the 2nd and 3rd stop signs for the property? at each stop sign I even told realtor this is what you will be by at each stop sign, store ,restaurant , so they would know this is they way. even offered to meet s/he at the first stop sign,so they could follow me . thats o.k. I think I can find it. guess I will introduce them to the map it site, I use when in doubt.

**Gee whiz, I just consider it a cost of doing business to buy a map book. I thought everyone in my profession has one of those.

I just want to add one more thing. Just because an agent has a ton of professional designations or awards, does not mean that they are a good professional realtor. Keep that in mind too. Good Luck!
