From post 1:
" I quit my job . Daughter might have dyslexia. She needs constent attention"
And another:
"My child might have a more serious problem. Her brain wonders. Her teachers are unable to understand my child.
As mom to a SNs kid who was severly challenged (she started attending EI classes at age three and had almost NO language abilities at the time, had minimal speech and could barely hold a crayon. She is now functioning well in a REGULAR first grade class- and is youngest in her grade) the above really bothers me. Oh- my kiddo also writes about 40% of her letters and numbers backward, but she can read words like "firefighter" and "nutcracker". The interventive services were invaluble in catching her up to her peers who had parents and homes (and proper hearing and vision, which mine also did not) from birth.
All this "...might have..." this or that problem, yet no demands of the school for an IEP, no actions by the mom to obtain interventive services or further testing (other than quitting her job and hanging out in her daughter's class all day with her). And while the child's REAL learning needs remain unaddressed, she falls further behind. Of course, if the school were accomodating the child's SNs, mom no longer would have an excuse to stay at school all day.
Sorry, failing to address the specific learning needs, in total, of your child delays their progress. If the dad asking for custody wakes you up to this, then dad has done his daughter a great service.
