What is the name of your state?WA

A bankruptcy attorney told me if I file for Chapter 7, I won't have to pay my mortgage for a few months. However, online it says if you are behind in your mortgage payments when filing for bankruptcy, you will lose your house. What's the truth? Thanks.

The truth is, if you file a Chapter 7 and are behind in your mortgage, you'll have to get current or the mortgage holder can foreclose.
So, what's your intention?

A bk filing will come with an automatic stay and will halt a foreclosure. The lender will then file for a relief from stay and then may proceed.
You really need to talk with a lawyer if you're contemplating a bk and a home is on the line.
