Arizona. A collection agency has attempted to collect on a couple of parking tickects that are 4 years old. Much to my surprise I asked to see the original tickets. The tickets amounted to 41.00. The collection agency is attempting to collect 62.00. I wrote them that I would only pay the amount of the tickets. I sent in a check for 41.00 and they returned it to me. Their explanation for the returned check was restricted endorsement, payment does not satisfy debt.
What do I do next?

**A: easy, send a money order or cashier's check for $62 bucks.

maybe I should pay $2.00 for an orange at the cash register because the cashier says so, but the price at the orange bin is .50 cents per orange.
Do you always pay more for something than you should?

I've been through this before in a different State the real problem occurs when you go to get next years car tabs.. if the city has a deal with the Licensing Dept. then you will probably have to end up paying the piper. I disputed with the City and finally offered to pay them but they had me go thru CA since they had an agreement with them. I couldn't even pay DOL, had to pay CA then show proof to city to get release for licensing all of this long distance(since I moved ) using costly phones, faxes & time . Hopefully the city in not hooked up the DOL. Good luck..

Sounds like you're getting hit with their expenses too.... which if you read the fine print on any thing you sign, they usually ALL say something to the effect that "if you don't pay, you agree to also pay the fees we incur trying to collect from you"

It's only 20 bucks, pay it and get it over with...... it sucks but it'll be behind you ....
You know? pick your battles
