Will these circumstances lower child support?

What is the name of your state? Illinois

I am getting married and we are expecting a baby. My fiance has a child from a previous relationship. He has always paid his child support, and does not have any relationship with the mother (who is remarried) or the child.

Will these changes in status allow him to have his child support payments lowered, now that he'll have a family of his own? Any estimation as to how much they would be lowered?

It usually doesn't lower it that much...if it does at all (depending on your state)...Just an FYI here, not taking visitation or terminating his rights to the child, will not terminate his obligation to child support...

He doen't have contact with his child did I read that correctly? Well I know from our experience that my Fiance (husband in 10 days) just finished his battle and they took into consideration our 9 month old, he was alotted 600$ a month for her.

Your Fiance would have to file for child support modification and it would go through the judge. I don't know what the laws are there but I would say it's worth a chance.

Keep in mind every case is different my fiance has shared parenting with his children. 7 days on 7 days off. I could not possibly give you an estimate on how much they would be lowered

I can tell you that when hubby and I had a baby recently they only took off $6 a week from his previous child support. Don't look for it to change much if at all. Some states won't even consider modifying it for children born AFTER the child support order was established.

21) What impact does a parent's remarriage, or having other children, have on child support?
Children are not to be penalized for circumstances or living arrangements over which they have no control. Child support may not be reduced below the statutory minimum based solely on the fact that the custodial parent supports other persons not entitled to support by the noncustodial parent, or the custodial parent is receiving welfare. The situation becomes complicated when the custodial parent has other children in addition to the current respondent's child to support. In such event, the child's need is one relevant factor in determining support, along with other relevant factors, including the social problems surrounding one sibling having more than others, the visitation (or relationship) with noncustodial parent, and the extent to which payments by the respondent parent actually benefit those who are not directly entitled to the support benefit. The court will consider all relevant facts in an effort to provide support for all of the children, but there is a sort of "rule of thumb" that the first family ought not be deprived to meet the needs of the second family.
