That depends on whether the employee is exempt or non-exempt.
If the employee is exempt, there are NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER in which the employee is entitled to more compensation over and above their regular salary every week, no matter how many hours or on what days they work, unless they have a bona fide CONTRACT (not an employee handbook, not an offer letter, a CONTRACT) that says otherwise.
If the employee is non-exempt, then they MUST be paid for each and every hour that they work and if they work more than 40 hours in a week, they MUST be paid at time and a half their hourly rate for every hour over 40.
