What is the name of your state? MN

When my son was born his dad didn't have any identification for his name and needed to get someone else to sign that he was indeed who he said he was for the Noterization of the Recognition of Parentage document. Since this took him a long time, when I recieved the copy of what the birth certificate was to look like it didn't have his name on it. I approved it, because it didn't matter to me at that point, but when I received the final copy his name was spelled incorrectly on it.

If and when I go for child support will this need to be ammended and how would I go about doing that? Or is it too late now? My son is now 19 months old.

Also, Minnesota has agreements for child support with the following: Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom and Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territories.

Does this mean that if his father were to move to Mexico, I could file for child support and have it garnished through Mexico?

In theory, yes. Be aware that there may be a large income differential if he is living and working in Mexico. He will be payed Mexican, not US wages, so even if they are able to collect, the numbers would potentially be based upon a smaller income.

In regards to the birth certificate, you can get that changed through the bureau of vital statisitics. When my daughter was born they had her as my mother and me as the child. I just had to get a paper notorized and sent copies of my birth certificate and they were able to correct this.

What if he doesn't work?

He has been sending money to a bank account in Mexico for some time now, so if he has saved enough up to live off of, will they take that money into account?
