What is the name of your state?
Texas

In july of 2004 I brought my back child support current. I was not given credit by Florida where my x lives. Florida placed an irs intercept on my federal tax return for 4600 dollars. The court order is originally in texas and remains here with me. I owe 2000 in back child support I sold my home last july according to the Texas attorney generals office and I agree with this number. How can I get the remaining money back from Florida and get credit for everything.
Capt. CF :)

my current boyfriend had this done to him in Nevada.
He thought the money taken by the IRS went to back due child support. WRONG. He was told this went to the custodial parent but was in no way going towards back due support. Just free money for her.

I live in Texas and when the final payment of my ex's arrears came in he had over-paid by around $63.00. The state issued the full payment to me then I recieved a letter saying that I had been over-paid and I had 30 days to send a check back to the state so that they could refund him the overage. I don't know how Florida is, but I would assume you will get any overage you pay through the state back, it may just take a while.
