What is the name of your state? VA
so i found out my buddy went awol from the marines, he has already done a tour in iraq, he is infantry, he's low ranking, lance corpral. enlisted june 2003.

he's only been awol a week or so. he left because he was stressed out, i know its a bad reason, i've already given him a ton of **** for that.

HE DOES INTEND ON GOING BACK

my questions are pretty much what is he looking at?
he said he's got 30 days before they put out a warant. is this true?
can he be court marshaled if he wants to continue to serve?
if so what type of court marshall?

how long till people start coming to his moms house looking for him.

he doesn't think he can handle finishing his enlistment(i may or may not be able to talk him out of that). in this case what separation procedures, penalties, charges, etc. is he looking at.

any advise and links to other posts which may be buried in here would be greatly appreciated.

you might want to go and look at some of the other awol threads, that might give you an idea what he is in for. but its really hard to say for sure what kind of trouble he is in. some of its luck, some of it is who likes you and who doesnt. they could either hammer him with a court martial, or they could just give him NJD

yep another awol

Chrissdizz is right...read the threads. One marine was not so gentley awakened at his home before dawn by those who were looking for him. One Navy poster had an warrant issued within ten days. Nothing is set in stone, except one thing: although the LONGER he is gone, the chances of his compounding the problem grow.

He is already past the 3 day limit for what I refer to as the "wrist slap." Get him back before the 30 day limit which essentially will result in felony charges (he's looking at misdemeanor type charges now). He needs to go back -- to his unit -- ASAP.
