What is the name of your state? IA live in Jersey order and child in.

When Vistation has been denied due to having the child in every sport, taking trips out of the country repeatedly.
Where does the N/c stand?

The child now 18 was told 2 yrs ago in school with a counselor and the custodial to allow her to visit her dad. The mother broke down crying and again manipulated her saying she raised her. She has the child brainwashed the father gave up rights and he never did. He now has copies of all school records after 2 years of trying got Ferpa and us dept educ involved. Dtr told him he has no right to it WRONG! Parental rights were never taken. They are there. We are doing without so she can live a life of luxury. Is he not entitled to visitation? Only to find out she is taken out of the country repeatedly. Again, is the n/c supposed to be advised of this?

The custodial was contacted upon the marriage 6 years ago trying to establish an 'extended family' she was so jealous, that even when the n/c moved back for 6 months she would not allow the child to see the new step mother. She is a controlling jealous person who she is now living with her female domestic partner.

We realize she is a Sr in hs and yet for all these years we were promised visits and never got them. We figured that once she is on her own(if ever) she will have a hard lesson to learn that life is not given to you. You need to work and earn it.

The child was given a new car from Granma warbucks an it just is wrong to teach a child that "life owes you" .

I know for fact all the effort in the past 7 years alone how many times called to no answer or busy or other plans. If we lived around the corner, she would have had to deal with vists. In the order it states 24 hour notice any time. So basically every day if he wanted. She made a point to be difficult. That is why the father should be in the life of the child and the custodial that seems to view the child as a 'possession' is oh so wrong!

So, my point is this. Since all those years cannot be replaced, we continued to pay and turn the cheek. Times up. If we have to continue to pay CS until age 23 we demand visitations. How can we do this or do the courts view age and say they don't have to go?

What does the court order for visitation state? And has dad ever tried to enforce it through contempt hearings? Has dad shown up for his visitation only to be denied?

Since the "child" is now 18, does it really matter? I would think that it would be rather difficult to force an adult child to visit.

That is the issue, yes he has showed in jersey to be denied, no with an 8th gr education he did not understand thr courts. No hearing, no money, it costs$$ in jersey. He had it hard with cs alone. Jersey is the visit state, since the original order in 1996 never changed but we are taking it to court in june. Just wondering if there is anythng you can do when they deny the visits. Esp when change of circumstances and 2200 miles. If she is allowed to go to key west and barbados with boyfriend, she can come to IA for a few days. That is the odd thing,. she is an adult in my book, what is the point. If we have to pay until 23 then we want the visits.

The point is, I don't think an adult can be FORCED to visit with ANYONE. Unless he showed up to get the child, as detailed in the visitation order, and mom REFUSED to release the child, she didn't LEGALLY deny visitation.

She is 18 and wants to visit apparently. So she could go visit if she has the money this summer and no one could stop her. if she allows herself to be manipulated that is no one's fault but her own.
But to take mom to court for denying visitation in the past there has to have been a court order. If there was no court order for visitation then there was no denial of visitation. Even with a court order, dad would have to show up as you said in your other post and be denied at the time he was supposed to get visitation -- and I don't see that that has happened. OP's hubby also can't go back 10 years and get 10 years worth of contempt at once.
As for travel outside of country -- the time to raise the issue was then.

Just found out they keep leaving the country.

Spoke 2 mo ago with minor(adult) and she said that they have been to scotland 4times, 2 cruises those with custodial and domestic partner, keys with boyfriend, barbados next month with boyfriend. This is why once we found out we on't want court 2x in 3 mo so were going to tell judge all at once in June when asking for emancipation.

I wasn't under the impression that the child WANTS to visit. But, if she does, she's an adult and mom can't stop her. The last sentence from the first post says:
if we have to continue to pay CS until age 23 we demand visitations
isn't an option in more ways then one.

He's going to ask that the child be emancipated for the purpose of child support based on the fact that she is well traveled? I don't think that is a valid argument.
