What would you do if you paid a lawyer $1,000 & he didn't go to court, as was agreed?

I am a MISSISSIPPIAN.

So my friend chickens out and instead of representing herself, she decides that she's gonna continue letting the lawyer handle her case, since (A) She already paid him $1,000, and (B) She had to work the day of court and now lives about 3 hours away.

She talked with her attorney about some Freeman ideas/ideals, and of course, being an attorney, he was against the idea. He convinced her that it wouldn't work and agreed to plead Not Guilty for her at the arraignment.

Well... he didn't show up, and now there's a warrant for her arrest. What can be done? I'd like to sue the guy for a lot of crap, but the courts would probly see that he only owes her $1,000 at most. The legal system is fail.

Why would you sue? And why do you think that the "freeman" concept is anything short of a big pile of horse hooey? Please don't answer that, I could care less and I really do appreciate that ya'll are helping to prop up the tin-foil industry!

And I believe it, because there has to be a way to eradicate the scum from the Earth. I want to fight the domestic terrorists, seeing as how they're the biggest threat to the survival of our country... NOT foreign terrorists.

doesn't that hurt? Women, on average, have much smaller feet than men so it would be reasonable to presume that her shoes are much smaller than yours.

has she spoken with her attorney since the no show? has he taken action to have the warrant quashed?

OK... but is there really nothing one could do in that situation?

This is the third time I've seen this happen in 2 or 3 years... so I'm sure it'll happen again. One time my buddy's lawyer didn't show up, and THAT day the cops came to lock his ass up and bail out... then the lawyer wouldn't answer for a day or two. It was crap.

I've been outta town for a while, and I haven't been able to get in touch with my friend lately. I will let you know what her attorney says, ASAP... but my post was more to find out what could be done in the event that she still lived here, a warrant was issued for her arrest because her attorney didn't show up for court, and then she was arrested.

Like I said, this has happened to a friend of mine before, and it just cost him more money. Surely there is another answer to the problem??

so, you should have listened to me. You cannot get an answer if you have no facts and you had no facts upon which to postulate an answer.

generally no but we still do not know why the lawyer was a no show so, we are back to;

no info; no answer

either explain it to the judge when arraigned or hire another lawyer.
