Is there a way to time a treatment so that dad can administer one at 8AM - so that you can guide him on the process of administering the nebulizer? Then dad would only have to administer at 10, 12, 2 & 4. You would do the one at 6 pm.

That's what I am going to try to do. He picks kiddo up at the grocery store 2 minutes from my house, and these are only 5 min treatments. Doing one 10 minutes early can't hurt. So I will do that. However I pick kiddo up in Dads town at 6p which is about 25 mins away... It will be difficult to give him the treatment as his nebulizer plugs into the wall (be really neat if they had one that would plug into the cig lighter) better a few minutes late than not at all right?

Oops, just read it again, by guiding him, you mean have him come here and have him give kiddo the treatment? I don't think that will work... My battery died right before a visit one morning, I asked he could just once pick up from my house. He refused. So I had to walk kiddo to the convenience store 3 blocks away. :-/

Eta... I will certainly ask Dad if he will do that.

Looks like we are finally ready to go. They have kiddo lunch one last time, so I will check in with yall later this evenin once we are settled at home!

Thanks again for everything!

Also, one thing that's AWESOME in a humidifier (for future reference) is this stuff called Alkalol ( Alkalol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) it was recommended by Wild's ENT Doc when she was suffering from chronic congestion. Dump a full bottle into the water reservoir and fill the rest with water. It smells good, isn't over powering and is awesome at helping with snot issues. LOVE IT.

I still use it every time the kids get schnurgly and when we get home from Mom's house because she smokes like a train and makes the kids sneezy/sniffly.

Dawn, I'm so glad to hear little guy is going home! Fingers crossed that dad takes care of him!

Tiny hijack here, but CJane, WHERE can I get some of this stuff?!!?!

My oldest sings solo in the church choir one weekend a month and she seems without fail to get all congested the week that she sings!

You need a DC-to-AC adapter that will turn the car current into usable AC current for that nebulizer.

Glad he's getting to go home.... Hope Son continues the path to wellness.

Wow! I just read all 6 pgs. of this thread. I'm sooo delighted that your son is better and getting to go home Dawn.

I honestly think after reading this that your ex and mine could be one in the same if I didn't know better. I'm just lucky that mine is going to be 18 in two years but I had to deal with all of what you've described for the last 13 yrs. I'm in the home stretch and I just hope that circumstances change for you so that it's not always going to be this way for you.

Much luck to you and prayers for all of you.

We are all settled in at home. Kiddo is exhausted. Fell asleep in his high chair during dinner. He had his toy closet contents spread across the entire front room within 10mins of being home. =)

I decided to text Dad earlier to let him know we had made it home. Told him that regular visitation would resume tomorrow. Dad asked if he could pick kiddo up at 10a instead of 8a. I said ok. (Only because kiddo hates being woke up early). I have a feeling he is going to try a fast one, so my mom is coming over in the morning to sit with the kids while I run to the grocery store at 8a. Just in case Dad tries to say I wasn't there. I don't wana take Kiddo out in the cold on a whim that he MIGHT be there. I will get a receipt to prove I was there.

Maybe I am being too over cautious. But geez... With everything that has happened, I just can't trust him right now. I told him about the nebulizer and cream he will need to apply to his mid day diaper change. He said ok, no problem. He almost acts as if the last two weeks never happened. Really weird.

I'm gona check wally world tomorrow to see if they have the adapter, so I can use this nebulizer in the car...

Zigner... Do you happen to know how to go about getting a portable nebulizer that will plug in to the car? This is the first time I've ever had to get one, and kiddos came straight from the hospital. Are they prescription or would a med supply store have one? If I can't get the adapter I will talk to his regular pedi on Monday at his follow up about how to get one. =)

I'm hoping for some serious rest this weekend. Next week will be hectic... Kiddo goes for follow up Monday, daughter goes to Dentist to get fitted for space maintainers on Tuesday. I go to the OB Weds. Thanksgiving Thursday... Black Friday shopping. (just kidding about black Friday... I'd prolly seriously hurt someone if they got in my way, plus no $ because I haven't worked in two weeks...) over half of my Xmas savings has to go to bills. Its ok, just glad I had the money stored away.

My brother decided MY house would be his home away from home while I was gone. Yeah, two sinks full of dishes, towels all over the bathroom floor, mud all over the carpet. Every light in the house on. Grr.

I'm getting carried away now. Exhaustion has set in, but I promised Daughter that we could watch UP. I've missed her. Hopefully things will get back to normal. And SOON.

Not Zigner, but I have an answer. I always had to get prescriptions for any durable medical equipment, and a portable nebulizer is a bit more expensive than a home nebulizer, but they are smaller, quieter, and run off batteries or plug into adapters in the car. I would ask the pediatrician about it at your son's next appointment. (Also, they should be covered by insurance!)

Yeesh, you must all be exhausted -- but so happy to be back home. I hope everything goes well on Dad's visit tomorrow :::crossing fingers:::. When would Dad have him again? Not for 2 more weekends?

Thanks for asking about my DD. She was in the hospital 4 days, begged to be released a day early b/c she was just not getting any good sleep at the hospital and they agreed to let her out a day early since she had a F/U MD appt a few days later. It was rough for a while, they almost rehospitalized her. Her initial flu swab came back negative, but a more in depth or whatever test was done and it came back positive for H1N1. She's still trying to kick things completely, but was cleared to go back to work yesterday after over 2 weeks off from this. In between all that, the baby had fluid around her heart so they had to monitor that and it resolved, as well. So hopefully she gains her strength back because she's going to need it in a few weeks!

Good luck to you, too.
