What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

You all may know my situation from a previous post. I recently ran into an old friend of my ex and asked if she know where my ex was located or if there was a number available to call my ex. The friend said "it was not her place to tell me the whereabouts of my ex and child. I looked my ex's old address up and mailed a certified letter to that address (no response). Then I decided to pay an online service to find her current info and I found a number wth an address. I called the number and no answer, I left messages, no response. I mailed a certified letter to that address (waiting for a response). I'm going down to the courts to file for modification of visitation tomorrow (hope the mother respond). It's a start but I'm hoping to see my child again and have things run smooth with the mother and I. Thanks for your help guys

Good luck. Since ex refuses to respond or let you see your child, you can probably ask for an ex parte emergency order.

You might also consider having the sheriff serve the papers since ex won't respond to mail. Or, at least, I hope you sent it registered.

If the letters do not work call or write Child Find Of America .

Much cheaper than a PI.

Posting history. He's VERY unlikely to get an emergency order. He CHOSE to be absent for over a year. He's only just now decided he might want to actually be a father to this child.

Agreed.

I don't usually check posting history - I guess I should.

At least I'm trying to be there and find my son...the history of why I wasn't there doesn't matter.

The reason(s) why you weren't there could certainly impact why the other party and child are not out in the middle of the street waving a giant flag that says "Here we are!!!"

So, yes, the reason(s) you opted to absent yourself from your child's life certainly impact how successful you would be in court as well.

but it will matter to mom, and to the judge, and to child support. So in a sense it does matter.

I really can't stand that mentality. You are right, pat on the back for you, "at least" you are trying now. Good job, "Dad".

Thank you for your comment!! I don't care what no one else think as long as I step back into my child's life...IT DOSENT MATTER ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE

Yes, it does.

Of course, you've got your fingers in your ears and are humming "nah nah nah" so I'm sure you won't listen to this...
