I'm not sure I understand the preference for alternating by weeks. It would seem to me that it would be harder on the children. I understand it's much more common. I just don't get how it's necessarily better.

The children 1) get frequent, meaningful contact with both parents, 2) the children become accustomed to switching homes and don't get so settled into one home that its disruptive to switch to the other.

Ok, that makes sense to me. Like I posted earlier we were trying to come up with the best plan we could. You guys are the greatest; I am learning so much being here.

Well, you're having issues with communication with the month on/month off schedule. Those issues would be largely absent if you were a more frequent presence in the lives of the children.

And it's simpler to plan things for the kids too. Want to play soccer? Gee, I'm sorry, the whole season takes place on Dad's month. Guess it's up to him.

Want to spend a week in July with Gramma at the lake? Sorry, the month of July is Mom's and she doesn't think you're old enough.

Want to spend the night with little Sally Jones next Saturday? Well, next Saturday is the beginning of Dad's whole month, and he doesn't like little Sally Jones' Dad, so you'll have to see if you can do something with her next month.

You really can't see how shorter visits in a more frequent rotation would be good?
