I was recently terminated from my job at a small ma and pop company. To make a long story short, my direct supervisor and general manager went behind my back and worked together to get me fired. They spread rumors throughout the company about me that did circulate back to me. They also used other people's names against me without their knowledge, who when approached, denied they had ever said those things. The manager made many empty promises and I learned that they would talk behind my back about me. They fired me with a reason that I cannot communicate very well, although I had great relationships with all my customers. I was given 30 days probation to "change", but was fired 6 days in. I also later learned that the owner didn't know why I was getting fired, but gave his consent so the manager would stop pestering him about it. I am now jobless with a wife and new baby. Do I have a valid case I claim against them for the benefit of my wife and baby?

Assuming you are in the US, there is no case here.

Listening to rumors and firing you is legal. Firing you for wearing green socks is legal. Firing you for no reason is legal.

You need to file immediately for unemployment benefits. While firing you is perfectly legal for just about all reasons, there is a pretty good possibility that if they did not have a valid misconduct reason to fire you, you will be able to eventually qualify for unemployment insurance benefits. These benefits are paid in by all companies who meet the qualifications and are there for any time they separate a worker for a no fault reason.

The benefits are not based on your need or your income, they are a set rate of weekly money that you must certify for each week, and you must be able, available and actively seeking another job. The benefits will last no more than six months, and will not be anything near as much as your former salary was, but they are a stop gap income replacement insurance for any qualified worker.

Otherwise, there have been no labor laws violated from what you have told us here. Yours is an "at will" state, so it is legal for the employer to file you at will, even though they may not have treated you fairly. Unless your termination was specifically because, and you were being mistreated because of an EEOC related reason, you have no grounds for anything else. Your only next choice is to move on, file for unemployment benefits and begin to look for a new job.
