I don't know about your states laws. But I had a similar situation with one of my LL and he (the LL) had to pay for the fee. After all it was his mistake not yours.

Does anyone know the limit for Michigan on damages for rental premises? Specifically rent. Thanks in advance

Yeah I read the L/T law it doesn't say anything in there. No this is not in regards to deductions from the security deposit. This is for damages over a year after the tennant has already moved. I tried to ask about the States SOL but I have been unsuccessfull so far.
