I was wondering if 600 was a little too much for child support payments. My husband is in the Marines and we are married. Will the child support go down or will it stay the same.

Child support can decrease if the NCP petitions the court and proves a legitimate decline in income. Child support can INcrease if the CP petitions the court due an increase in the NCPs income.

Child support is calculated by state guidelines (some are higher than others) You can view the calculators online as a previous poster suggested.

I've heard of a judge ordering no support and heard of orders for support in the thousands. It depends on the income of both parents and the courts primary intent to provide the child with a style of living comparable to the parent(s). As an example childcare for a 3 year old runs between $400-$1,000 in my area, most times that is whether the child attends full time or not (In order to secure a lasting 'spot' at the daycare/center). In my state of CA, child support is calculated and 50% of childcare costs are ADDED to that amount~ So support would go UP if the child attended daycare/preschool/after-school care, etc.

The courts determine child support amounts and if any additional children are created by the CP or the NCP~ It's the court (and logic's) view that the CP or NCP are aware of their already existing obligation to children they already have.

Also, your stating the mother lives at home with her parents (implying she has no rental expense) is irrelevant and hypocritical in your specific case~ Since your husband is an active duty Marine, therefore qualifies for base housing.
Your statement of concern re; financialy caring for your children you have/will have with your husband is also irrelevant and hypocritical ~ Since the Marine corps pays your husband allotments for being married (wife) and dependents (children).

So...basically your husband is eligible for free housing, gets income increase for being married and having more children. You will be fine financially. If you continue to feel like you are struggling- your husband can, by merit as well as time and grade, receive ongoing promotions and wage increases which will provide for continuing increases to your income.

It takes more than $600 a month to take care of a child. We spend that on groceries and house payment around here.




But that 600 is to be met with a portion provided by the CP. If she doesn't work then the courts will probably base her percentage of income off of minimum wage. And they may take into account that she lives at home and doesn't have to pay rent. I am not sure on that though. Perhaps your husband should ask for a modification.

A few days after your post, get your ex to register under a different user name than yours (you can figure it out, all you need is a different email address to register), Then have your "ex" ask the same question you asked, but only from his perspective instead of yours.

You will be very suprised I think, when your "ex" receives back messages telling the "ex" how stupid they are, what a terrible parent they are, etc. I've done it several times and it really makes you feel good to know that the advice they are giving you all subjective. I was told that my ex could actually get custody of my child, that I was unfit, etc. Then when my "ex" signed on and asked the same question, he was told he had to abid by the CO order. I won't go into it any further, but according the people who answered the thread he needs to get an attorney as soon as possible and may be in contempt.
