Presumably, by 'dating' you mean having sex, correct??
If so, the age of SEXUAL consent in North Carolina is 16.... so as long as he/she is 16 or older... yes.

Whether correct or not my answer is the smart and safer answer. They may not have to answer to the law, but they do have to answer to mom and dad.

The parents have no legal right to tell their daughter, once she reaches the age of SEXUAL consent, what to do with her own body. If you are alluding to a restraining order, even the most inept attorney can have it set aside on this basis alone.

Unless you are saying the the U.S. Supreme Court is wrong.

But they can tell her she can't see the 20 year old guy. They may not be able to do anything legal to him.

And that has nothing to do with THIS post.

But it does give a possible result, of what could happen in the near future. I just thought the poster might want to think about what could happen, before anything happens.

The legal point is the 16 year old's parents have the legal right of stopping their daughter from seeing him, they may not be able to press charges agaisnt him. But she is 16 and they still have legal rights over her until she is 18, hense they can tell her to stay away from him and him to stay away from her.

No they don't. Please provide a cite to ANY statute or case law giving a parent the LEGAL right to tell a 16 year old to stop doing anything.
They certainly have the right to ask/demand that she stop seeing him... but that does not make it a law.

And if she doesn't 'obey' her parents, what is the EXACT criminal code or civil claim EXACTLY can she be 'charged' with?? :D
