HomeGuru,
When you answered this and said "You should talk to an FBI agent", was that directed to fronty or me(the OP)?

**A: BOTH of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you are carrying a candle to see if the water is, in fact, frozen and the horse is startled from the light. In which case, an entire new set of Equine Equity lawsuit appears.

Why the hell would I need to talk to the FBI?

I knew the OP had vindictive intentions. Most people wouldn't turn in an acquaintance for copying DVDs (for personal use) or downloading music off the internet unless there is an alternative motive.

If you take the advice of the great homeguru and racer72, the following scenario will more than likely take place.

With your calls to the FBI and the Movie Picture Association of America, you will get immediate attention. This is the case they have been waiting years to break! On the criminal side of things, you can expect a search warrant to be immediately issued. Helicopters and armored vehicles will approach this guy’s house under darkness for the surprise element (as he will be considered armed and dangerous for copying these DVDs for his own personal use). Fully armed agents will crash through his sun lights and break down his door. They will quickly apprehend him, and after facing his charges, he will never see the light of day again. Hundreds of agents will bring box upon box of critical evidence out of his house. He will have no defense at all. The crucial piece of evidence in this case will be an illegal copy of Rush Hour 2. This is extremely unfortunate for the accused as he only watched the legitimate copy of the movie and not the unauthorized duplication. Damn, that is the price you have to pay though for such a heinous crime. Anyways.....Ten FBI agents will personally escort his daughter to you with a written apology from the United States government. Moreover, she will have to go through a tremendous amount of counseling, as she inadvertently watched some of these DVDs. The last one being Legally Blonde. How could this guy bring him self to do such things? Now, here is the great news that I have derived from racer72 responses. There will be a huge civil liability judgment against this guy. Since he appears to be extremely wealthy, you will get that huge reward that racer72 alluded to early on. And to think…… all you had to do was click on a simple link that he provided and BAM you get a million dollars. Out of the kindness of your heart, you should give a cut to racer. Just consider it a contingency fee.

I know this story sounds pretty far fetched, but if racer72 and homeguru can make so many assumptions from my simple question, I don’t see why I can't derive this story from their posts.

Disclaimer to OP: This scenario will never happen, and it is really addressed to racer72 and homeguru in a facetious manner.

what should I have expected

I was looking for serious answers. Apparently this forum is not really here to help people. But to belittle their reasons for asking.

I was trying to figure a way to keep a 7 year old kid out of the hands of sick adult. But apparently humoring you people is all I accomplished.

Thanks for nothing.

mjslatt, I am sorry you did not get the response you wanted. Forum trolls like fronty come here to do nothing try to force their opinions on others. And the jokes were intended to be at his expense, not yours.

He has done other things that I cannot discuss online, but they involve horrible unspeakable things that he has done to his own daughter.

This is the only thing I truly care about. It appears that you just have vindictive intentions. Moreover, we are only able to hear your side of the story, so I can’t truly tell if this guy deserves to have his daughter taken away. For all we know, this guy could be a great father. From your post, it seems like there are more serious crimes this guy has committed. Why don’t you follow up on those things?

Now, I am a forum troll. Read through my other posts from other topics; I think I have given credible information. Can you answer any of the questions I addressed to you and homeguru. No.....I wonder why that is. Is it because you jumped the gun and thought a simple question was a rebuttal? Well, it is not too late to help her out. Go ahead and help her grasp at straws to separate a father from his daughter. Or....keep making ass (I learned these terms from homeguru; I hope I am using them correctly) with your friend. It's up to you.

P.S.

My jokes were intended to be at your expense, not the OP's.

Other Avenue Exhausted

As I stated before, the child opened up to one deputy who promised her she would be protected. That deputy had to go on medical leave for a quadruple bypass and was unable to attend the meeting with CPS. The child was too scared with the CPS people to open up to them, and since that point CPS has shut this down with all law enforcement agencies (sherriff, Texas Rangers, and DA) that looked into it. Then a pediatrician who examined her told her that he believed her and that he would testify for her. He has since recanted and will not testify. The Rangers were brought in because the father's family are personal friends with the Sherriff. But CPS shut them down also, they claim that she had been coached. There was no coaching but I guess they see a lot of that. My wife was reluctant to believe until talking with the girl and seeing the pictures that she drew as to where she was touched. There was not enough physical damage done to her for it to show up in exams. She has transformed into a shell of the former little bubbly girl she used to be. It is heart-wrenching to see.

I’m sorry to hear that, but if you keep making multiple allegations against this guy, it is easy to see why people think she is being coached. It appears that you are looking at multiple ways to get this guy for something/anything. Good luck to you……Racer72 will come along, hopefully, shortly and give his opinion. It appears that “trolls” like me can only push their opinions so far. I apologize for my simple question that I posted earlier, and I certainly did not have any intentions to “belittle” your situation. You would have received better advice if you stated your whole story from the beginning. Just curious……Did you think my question was totally out of line?

Not offended by original question

I was not offended by the original question. I just think it escalated beyond where it needed to go after that. I guess we could all stand to grow a little thicker skin and resist the temptation to retaliate. Being new to this type of forum, I wasn't prepared for some of the pettiness of where these threads might go. I was reluctant to post the entire reason for asking the question because this a public forum, I don't know who might be reading these posts. Heck I might be giving ammunition to the opposition. But after seeing where the thread was going, I thought it was worthwhile to explain. So that if someone did know if this was an avenue that might be fruitful that they would be forthcoming with how to pursue someone illegally copying DVD Rentals.

Did you read my very first post in this thread and click on the link? It's either that or the FBI as suggested by HomeGuru. There are your options.

I passed on MPA link

Homeguru,
I did pass on the link to my mother. She is looking into it. I also looked at the FBI website, but I could not find anything there about copyright infringement investigations. Please forgive me but I'm going to list them all here. Everything I saw looked to be about national intelligence, cyber crimes, antitrust, bankruptcy, environmental, financial, government, health care, insurance, money laundering, securities, telemarketing, art, indian country, jewelry, public corruption, civil rights, and organized crimes.

None of those jumped out at me as being pertinent to copying copyrighted dvd's.

Thanks,
MS
