What is the name of your state?
FL

If a person claims they have initiated Probate of an estate listing themselves as Personal Representative, wouldn't there be a record of such in the county courthouse records?

So ask them what county they filed it in, and ask them to show you a copy of their letters testamentary that authorize them to be PR. That will shut them up in a hurry and I wish I could be there to see the confused look on his/her face when they figure out you are smarter than they are.
