I’m experiencing what may be most bizarre moment in my life.

I recently moved into a house and found out on Saturday night that I was tricked into moving in with a bunch of undercover cops/cops in training who are spying on me - with the intention of busting me for drug use. I have a history with drugs, but now, I mostly just smoke pot.

Since September, I was living with four young adults... one of them works for the police and studies forensic science. While living with her, I had smoked in the house a few times. I found out in October that she was furious about it (from overhearing a rant), and after confronting her to apologize, she pretended to not know what I was talking about. After a while, I just didn’t feel comfortable living there... it wasn’t just because of not being able to smoke in my home... It got to a point where just didn’t like this person. A couple of weeks ago, I posted a “room wanted” advertisement, and got a phone call the very next day. The caller said he had an open room in his home. I asked him how he felt about marijuana, and he said it was okay if I do it in my room, and not all the time. He even claimed to smoke it himself. I got there, loved the amount of space, and I signed his lease. I moved in a couple of days ago, and I purchased marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms on the very same day. Please, no lectures... I understand that it’s a criminal offense, but I don’t believe marijuana should be illegal in the first place (that’s another discussion). Anyway, I ate the mushrooms at 11p.m, and planned to smoke a couple of hours later. At 1 a.m., I realized that I was being watched. In my room. I kept hearing voices above me, one of which sounded strangely familiar. Almost like a former roommate’s voice! I also kept hearing loud noises in that room above me, like wooden platforms being moved, tapping, and other suspicious ruckus. It all hit me when I saw a FAKE commercial on my TV, with the former roommate’s name in the bottom left-hand corner. It was being transferred from the room above mine (the cable wires go in that direction). From that moment on I felt stripped of my right to privacy. My internet usage must have been monitored at my previous residence as well, because how else would this roommate have been able to set up the phone call on the very next day, when I didn’t tell her? These people are treating me like some kind of creature in a laboratory. My lease is over in July. Naturally I got rid of the pot... but I’m still going to be watched! How can I live comfortably with this sort of thing going on? What does one do in this sort of situation? How I can even prove that this is going on to anyone who might be able to help? I may consult with legal council about this situation shortly. God, I don’t even know where to begin... what do I do?

**A: are you currently on drugs?

Ugh. It wasn’t a bad trip, and no - I'm not on drugs (I'm at work). This isn’t a joke post. I’ve been on mushrooms a handful of times in the past, so I know what to expect. My mushroom-induced hallucinations are never indistinguishable from reality. Likewise, my hearing IS effect, but it's enhanced... I don’t hear things that aren’t there. Also, these were NOT that powerful. I was hearing the exact same noises above my room the following day.

Back to that evening: After realizing what was going on, I laid in my bed, trying to get to sleep for a few hours... but I kept hearing the noises upstairs, and hearing my former roommate from outside and inside. While I was laying on my bed, facing away from my TV (which was still on), I kept hearing things interfere with the television... audio samples, which I guess are used to confuse people who are too messed up to realize what is happening. I heard these samples at my old place, when the roommate found out I was smoking pot. They’re a series of random phrases/fake advertisements that are all woven together incoherently. Anyway, when I decided to get out of bed and turn the television off, I saw the fake commercial, which really confirmed what I was thinking about earlier. I’m quite aware of how advertising looks, and this couldn’t have looked any more artificial. The fact that it had my old roommate’s name in the left hand corner, accompanied by nothing else... it was too obvious to think otherwise. Nothing was being advertised! By the time “Call Now!” popped up on the screen, I shut off my TV, and then my computer. The mushrooms had almost worn off at this point, too. I heard people talking upstairs for a while after... I couldn’t get to sleep. Sound travels VERY clearly from upstairs. I’ve known this ever since I first saw the place. I’ve heard the same resonance from up there, before I realized I was in The Truman Show.

I don’t know what else to say to convince anyone here. I know it sounds ridiculous, but my imagination is not this wild. I just want to know how to get help if I can. I know this person, and she’s pretty sadistic and obsessed with the law. This also explains why one of my new roommates kept smelling around me (not sniffling) and fake-coughing every time I was around him the other night.

Well, then go to the police and file a report that you are being harrassed in your residence by your former room mate.

I went to college, too, and I will be the first to tell you that not all hallucinagenics are the same. There is a reason it is called a bad trip and they usually happen when someone has limited experience and is under the assumption that every time will be the same.

How would I be able to tell the police? They're either working for the police, or they're police. It's not just one person. I am living with all of these people. The same roommate who was sniffing around me and coughing, told me what he was in graduate school for: micro-engineering. Hmm. My door doesn't close all the way (The bottom of it looks kicked in). Hmm. The last roommate, according to the owner (Who doesn't live there), was a pothead. HMMM. None of this seems coincidental to me.

It really does sound far-fetched, but I know what I heard and saw. The fake advertisement is a perfect example, because we're talking about a real image on the entire screen, with a real actress - not just some distorted commercial. And like I said... when this came on, I was WAY past a heavy visual stage. And, as it came on (While I was turned around, eyes closed), I heard a change in frequency on the television... kind of like when you change your TV settings to play a DVD. That noise is what prompted me to turn around and finally shut the TV off. But before I shut it off, I felt chills down my spine. "This can't be real." Unfortunately, it was. I can't really stress much more about what I heard, either. I have a good ear. I heard the same creaks and noises this morning, before work. I also was on the same batch of fungus that I had late last year.

Do you sell drugs too? I don't think they would use that much man power if you just use them. They want to bust the guys who sell.

Is it possible that they know how paranoid you are and are just messing with you?

As the previous poster stated, they wouldn't bother with you unless you could either lead them to the big guys or you are the big guy.

BTW, how do you know the fungus you got was from the same batch? You said you just bought it.

I don't sell. I do buy from someone, though. It could be a tactic to get to that person. I don't know.

These people don't know me at all, so they couldn't be messing with me. Also, I clearly heard my former roommate's voice upstairs and later, outside. She has a distinct vocal tone. She hangs out with cops. One of them used to fake-cough in my presence at my old place, after he had found out that I had smoked there.

The fungus is from the same guy, who's had the same batch since I last purchased some (When it was new).

It sounds like your paranoid to me. I have first hand experience with mushrooms and it makes people paranoid. Next time you hear the voice you think is your roomate, why don't you just go knock on there door and check? They can't arrest you for using the drugs, so just make sure you don't have any on you.

I'd like to add that they couldn't possibly have been messing with me for fun, because they wouldn't have known that I had anything on me unless they were spying. I had been living there for less than 24 hours when this happened.

It could be but I really don't think that they would use that much man power for a small fish like you. Just be careful where you keep your drugs. Or like rmet said, stop using them.

Knocking on the door? It doesn't work that way. They lie. It was way too late to say anything to anyone. I was also still experiencing the effects. What would I have to say if I got up there? "Oh, I thought I heard my old roommate in your bedroom." Like I said, I've confronted this person in the past (about a few things), and she lies. These people aren't any different.

I know what it's like to be paranoid (on shrooms, also), but I DON'T hear things that are indistinguishable from reality. In fact, my ears are musically trained, which strengthens sensitivity to all sounds.
