Married man uncomfortable sharing office with female

We don't know what she looks like as she has not yet started and that isn't the issue. The fact that he was promised one thing and then they turned everything around on him is the issue. I have also worked in close proximity with men but have never been asked to share my office. Maybe I have worked for really fantastic companies, but I have seen my colleagues complain about sitting next to someone they "don't like" and were moved. Another one didn't want to sit next to an aisle. She was moved. If someone is uncomfortable, someone is uncomfortable. He is just a really conservative guy, what can I say? I'd rather have him question the issue and be honest about his feelings than not.

I really didn't post this to hear a bunch of people judging my situation and making nasty comments but for objective advice. Perhaps people would like to share if they are happily married or divorced and that would shed some light on the negativity. Just because a guy has really traditional views doesn't make him nuts, just someone that can maintain a good situation for his family.

Oh Pease! I have very traditional values, but I don't expect an employer to cater to my every whim. Maybe you both need to understand something very clearly---You are not at work to be liked or like someone else you work with!!!!!! You are there to perform the job you were hired to do and if you are liked or strike up a friendship with someone else, then that is just icing on the cake.

I don't like my co-worker; we share pretty close quarters here. But, being that I am an adult, I suck it up and DEAL with it. I could have been promised the moon. Wouldn't matter. Your husband has the job that was promised. That is all that matters. Was there a written contract that said that he would receive an office all to himself? If not, then there is nothing.

If I hired someone new and they seem more concerned about sharing an office than with doing a job, I begin wondering if I made a bad hire. He needs to suck it up or see if he can find another kindergarten company to work for.

My husband was offered a position in VA and we relocated from CA. He was told initially that he would have his own office.

Was this "moon" in writing? Maybe, just maybe, they are having a space crunch. We all have good intentions on some things, but when push comes to shove, something happens and we can't follow thru.

If the husband can't work with a young lady, that speaks volumes.
