My friend won't give my dog back

I would have looked up the cost of boarding and offered more than that + vet fees.

Regardless he already said it's not about the money. He just doesn't want to give up the dog.

The dog hasn't seen OP in almost 2 years...Dog is now bonded to his/her new adopted Mom and Dad.

Owner wanted puppies gone at the time. She was no more than 6 weeks old.

People forget dogs have no sense of time. So she would be just as happy to see us

Then sue in small claims for the maximum and either you win and get way more than the dog is worth or the dog-sitter agrees to hand over the dog.
