A true dog lover wouldn't think this ^^ way. You don't give a hoot about that dog.
A true dog lover would do everything in their power to get their dog back. Including researching all facts about dogs. I guess I'm the only person who would never keep someone else's dog. No matter how long I watched them. Especially if that person had always been providing a loving and caring home.

I understand that. He agreed to watch my dog with the understanding that I would get my dog back. He even said yes come and get her then changed his mind.

I wouldn't leave my dog with someone to be treated like a "redheaded step child" as they say. I would hope the person I left them with would treat them just as good as we did.

Call a lawyer. It is really your only option. That $600 you were going to pay will likely cover his first 2-3 hours working on your case. And who knows, that may be enough time.

A person who loves their dog wouldn't dump them on someone else for close to two years and then rip the dog away from doggies psychological parent. You are truly terrible.

How do you know that isn't the case? I mean...you haven't even seen the dog in 7+ months.

They are not even in the same state. The dog is in NY, OP is in Florida.

I am in Florida he is in New York

Are you trying to correct me? Because unless you are the dog, I am right.

I find this term offensive to the redheaded step child in my family.

You know what a real dog lover would do? Realize that after a year the dog had a new home, with people he loved. A true dog lover would want what's best for the dog, not himself.

While dog's thinking works differently from ours, they do have the capacity to form new ties. You effectively abandoned your dog, and now want to repossess it. Dogs are not toys, to be put on a shelf while you do other things.

You did not have an agreement to reimburse the friend for the costs of upkeep. You were not paying to board the dog, and you didn't even keep in touch. You moved on. The dog has a new family, one that is more stable and caring than you.

Because, when you get down to it, this is all about you.

Yet you chose to have someone who wanted a 4w/o pup gone. That's not someone I would expect to take good care of one of my animals. Not that you show yourself in a better light for losing contact for 7 mos...
