I live in Dallas, Texas. She lives in Albany, New York. At first I didn't mind sending her money. I told her that as long as it was not a big risk or financial hardship to send her the money, that I would send small amounts. Then, she kept on asking for more and more money.

Have you thought about NOT sending her any more money?

I think it is time you stop online dating this person in Albany, New York, and try to find someone to date in Dallas, Texas. Dallas has lots of single people.

I'm sorry to say this, but what you have described is a classic online romance scam that preys primarily on elderly lonely people. It's heartbreaking to see it because the person asking for the money is not genuinely interested in any relationship. Instead they just want to string along the lonely person for as long as he or she can squeeze money from their lonely victim. The fact that the requests for money are coming more frequently and for for larger amounts is a big red flag that you are likely getting scammed of your money.

This particular scam is called "pig butchering". https://www.newsnationnow.com/crime/pig-butchering-scams/

So, you are the pig and the scammer uses flattery and love bombing to fatten you up to be scammed out of your savings. Thankfully you've only lost a little money, as some elderly folks lose not only their life savings but they end up mortgaging paid-off homes and owing big income tax bills from cashing out retirement accounts.

The scammers now have your name and contact info, and they know you're an easy mark. There will be more scam attempts using different methods. The same scammers may even try using what's called a "recovery scam" to convince you that they work with law-enforcement officials to get your money back. All you have to do is pay a small processing fee, and then you have to pay tax on the recovered funds, then a recovery fee... See how that works?

Stay off the dating apps and go find a woman in real life. If you were ever video chatting this woman then she probably isn't even in NY, she's in a country that engages in human trafficking and the women involved in it are essentially slaves. The authorities in these countries don't do anything about it because they're on the take.
