What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? florida. we protest at an abortion clinic, our van has a poster of an unborn child on it, also a pic of Jesus holding a baby. we park in a lot that is adjacent to the clinics, not their property. They tried to tow the van, which the police stopped. can they pull any other measures on us?

Maybe you need to not trespass on private property in order to protest...

**A: yes, they can flatten the tires, pour sugar in your gas tank, crack your mirrors and windows, put dents in your body, spray paint etc.

By the way, who is "they" you are referring to?

who owns the lot and do you have permission to park in the lot?

unless the clinic has control of the lot (which, depending on ownership and relationship with the clinic, it could be possible), they cannot have you towed.

You should contact the local government to inquire as to any permits that might be required. You also need to be very cautious and careful with where you stand. If you are seen as obstructing the entrance, there are usually laws that can allow you to be arrested.

we stand on public property, we just park there so women can see the signs. the restauraunt probably is bank property, it is for sale and emptied out. The clinic workers are the ones who called the tow truck. could they do anything eles to us to prevent us from parking there?

**A: not unless they control or influence the owner of the private property that the van is parked on.

can they get that from a bank? would that mean that no one could park there or just us(sounds discriminatory). I have the property lines from the gov. site so I know exactly where their property ends.

AGAIN - don't park your van on private property. It's really not THAT difficult of a concept to understand.

You're parking there strictly to harass the clinic and attempt to intimidate the women going in and coming out. You're not concerned about your "rights" as much as you are the latter. Honesty is not your strong suit.

And yes, the owner of the lot, whether a bank or someone else, can declare that your vehicle and only your vehicle with the inflamatory political signage is forbidden from parking there.

a picture of Jesus holding a baby is neither political or offensive. and this is a legal forum, the crime being commited is inside the clinic where babies are being torn apart in the womb, and women are facing traumatic stress syndrome for the rest of their lives. If you saw someone walking into a death chamber would you not try to warn them?

It's not a crime you dingleberry. It's not against the law. Not every woman who has an abortion gets PTSD. Remember the bible? It's says to follow the law of the land. Law says it's legal. Law allows the owner of private proprty to have you removed. Nothing stops the owner of the clinic calling the owner of the vacant lot to have you towed. I know i sure would.

Ok, I'm anti abortion but try to avoid getting into discussions here on the subject but what you just said is quite simply, wrong.

yes, this is a legal forum and as such, we try to stick to the laws. If there is a crime (as in what our courts deal with) being committed within the clinic, contact the police and make a report. It being a crime against humanity or not, is a subject for another forum.

what is happening in the clinic is not a crime, at least in terms we deal with on this forum.

I suspect the police stopped the tow precisely because it WAS unlawful. However, if properly posted pursuant to state law, the owners of the property or their agents can likely have the van towed.

If the lot is not properly posted as required by FL law (and I do not know these requirements for FL) then I suspect no lawful tow can occur.

And, Deb, as a practical matter, I support your efforts so long as you adhere to the law.

$50 says it's not an "abortion clinic" but a women's healthcare center where abortions are only a small portion of their services and 90% of the patients are there for other things.
