needshelp2004,

I don't know the California hold rules. I was hoping that Carl was around and could tell us. When asking Carl, it was my hope that the question itself would give you some comfort or additional information once answered.

Just taking a wild quess as to where the hold laws/rules are in CA, might be in the CA statutes and possibly in the CA rules of criminal procedure. A CA defense attorney would need to have access to the hold rules and a rule number to use if/when crying foul to a CA court for an unlawful hold.

As to your question whether the inmate is notified prior to being transported; again my guess would be, no they do not. If you give it just a little thought, advance notice to the person in custody of impending transport is a security risk, statistically.
:) Yes you are right, if I had given it a little thought I would have realized what a silly question that was. It's 5am over here and I have been up all night trying to get information before I start making some more phone calls back to Mississippi.
I also will be making a phone call to the public defenders office inquiring as to why the attorney of record has done NOTHING. Armed with a lot of information I received from everyone I feel a little more knowledgable and know basically what to ask.
Thank You, your thread did give me comfort and also gave me another question to ask the attorney of record.

You are very welcome. There are two other things that I want to point out for your consideration if it is not too much of a burden on your time right now.

First; most mother's-in-law, are trying to get the SIL into the jailhouse, rather than out of one. Your position and condition is really wreaking havoc on my MIL joke collection.

Two; once this situation gets all ironed-out, would you and your family try visiting Alaska? I'm curious myself and I'm almost postive other folks here are as well, as to what its like at the U.S/Canadian Border. :D

Let us hear from the day's results. :)

First, I am sorry I am wrecking so much havoc on your MIL joke collection :) I love my son in law dearly, as if he were my own. Being a single parent, I recently was going through a very difficult time and he was there and went way beyond the duty of a SIL. I stay up long hours during the night to do what I can to get info and investigate as I have no time during the days, I feel I owe him much more than this.

Second, I'll consider the whole Alaska thing. ;) I actually live by both the San Ysidro port of entry which is the busiest border in the U.S. and the Otay Mesa Border. What you might get a laugh out of is that I was raised in Hawaii and lived there all my life until the past 10 years. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if we still lived there as there are no borders. :D I wonder if any of this would ever have happened.

Florid-aise,

P.S.
You are not a burden on my time, you have been a bright spot and a welcome distraction. Thank You.

P.P.S. My son just reminded me that we could probably get you the whole Canadian/U.S, Border info if you want it that badly as one of my daughters is married to a Canadian man and lives in Saskatchewan, Canada ... :D

P.P.P.S. Will keep you posted on the days results.

While I have been called a distraction more times than I can recall, seldom have I been called a "welcome distraction" LOL - Thanks.

And now you tell us that we are going to have to go this whole thread issue again from our Northern border next time, because your daughter was stopped in MS with a gas tank full of reefer, that another charge was dismissed, and a filed and forgotten to be recalled warrant is out there someplace? Oh Brother ! :D

I got to be careful what I ask for, huh? :)

How seldom??? :)

I don't think I'll be going through this again ant time soon. Neither me nor any of my children have EVER been in any trouble with the law, not even a ticket. I have friends and relatives who think the jail and prison systems have revolving doors, but not me, I like my freedom too much. :)

Actually I have heard that it's easier to cross in and out of the Northern borders than it is the Southern ones. I know it is in Vancouver but I'll have to go on vacation to find out about the other ones and after this gets cleared up I may need a vacation. :D

I stayed up yesterday with the intent on calling Mississippi early to allow for the time difference but either they don't work until afternoon in them there parts of the wood or they have extended holidays as NOBODY answered phones. Not the sheriff's records dept., nor they court chansery clerk, nor anyone I tried ... go figure

I'm thinking about posting my next thread on parole violations. Seems a young man in jail with my son-in-law is ahving the same problems. He's being help as a fugitive from a parole violation in Ohio but he hasn't been on Parole since 2001. Living in Hawaii the majority of my lifetime and Cali being the only other place I've really spent time in could you tell me if Mississippi and Ohio by chance are anywhere near one another?

As for being careful about asking for what you want, I'm never careful. I'm a free spirit, am very sarcastic and have a big mouth so I always just ask for what I want, it works for me ... ;)

By the way, what kind of a distraction have you been called??? :D

P.S. I realize I mispelled words but it's from being tired, not being drunk. Which by the way I would like to add is LEGAL. :D

No one in jail is guilty of anything.

But do not worry: I am on the case....

I heard that saying before and I'm sure you're right ...
It's a good thing they aren't all guilty or you'd be out of a job ... :D
P.S. Are you sure it's not prison where nobody's guilty??? Or is it both jail and prison???

Both

I thought so too.

My EX seems to think prison is a vacation spot. Apparently he's too cheap to spring for tickets to Disneyland and this is the alternative ... :D

But, he's guilty as sin.

OP, I live in Ms and if you need anything that I can help you with please let me know, I am not a lawyer, just a nursing student. But if there is anything you can think of just let me know.

Can you say, "Skidmore, Missouri"?

If you could tell me what the hours are for the city of Laurel that would be a big help. I call after 9 Mississippi time and NEVER get an answer except at the courthouse where they have NO information. I need to find out the case # and the status of the charging document and the name of the bails bondsman who posted bail. I've tried sheriff's records and the jones county chancery clerk and get NOTHING, they don't even answer the phone. If you know of anyplace else I can try to get the information I need I'd appreciate it as it's costing me $ to keep calling long distance just to get an answering machine telling me "no one is here to answer your call".

Folks, people do not get extradited on municipal ordinance violations. You're wasting your time trying to call city hall.
