i'm a tenant in california who is having problems in getting repairs done in a single dwelling, month to month agreement with the landlord. The hardwood floor in the home needs repair. My family has gotten numerous splinters in their feet. the roof leaks in several places during the rainy season. (the landlord got an estimate of $10,000 to repair the roof recently). We attempted to hold back the rent to put carpet on the floor, but we got served a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit when we did it. Is it true that there's really nothing we can do because of the month to month agreement?
