To even IMPLY that a baby spending the night with their parent (without the other parent there...just like everyone who works graveyard or visits family or travels for work in an INtact relationship:cool:)....would result in a negative psychological impactis just SO MUCH BULL$HIT!.

Truer words were never spoken. I wish more ppl would realize this & stop with the whole selfish "baby cant be away from mom overnight b/c its DAMAGING!". Its a load of crap. If a baby would start with lots of time with dad & overnights within a month of birth, there would be no problem. Otherwise, my kids would be absolutely TERRORIZED from my husband getting up @ night with them when they were younger while I slept. He works long hours, there have been times where he didnt see the kids for 2-3 days b/c of his work schedule, and then he was off, and stayed up with the kids so I could sleep when they were mere NEWBORNS. I suppose I better get them to the psychologist, QUICK

I'm an Army brat myself--didn't see my Dad for over a year at a time--several times in my life. And, I don't think Mom "phased him" back into our family life. As far as I iknow, I don't suffer from any "attachment" disorder or "separation anxiety".

Have worked for the Army for over 30 yrs now & seen a lot of kids who have to deal with Mom or Dad being gone for extended periods because of their military duty. As I've said before, children are individuals. So some handle the separations better than others. But, I can tell you one thing--the BIGGEST factor on how well kids handle it is this--how well the other parent or adult taking care of them handles it.
