The reason most claims get closed is lack of activity either from you or the claimant, unless the claims dept has flat out denied the claim itself. And I have never heard of an insurance company denying a head on collision (which is why I keep stressing the question, was your auto policy active at the time of lose). Have you spoken to a claims adjuster to find out exactly why the claim has been closed?

Maybe it was something simple like they never received requested documentation from the other party to pay the claim.

K Tammy, ecmst, and all Thanks again for your time
I called and asked why the claim was closed and the adjuster said that she closed it because there is no proof that we are liable so for that we are not paying any damages. She said that we had a witness in our favor, and a the victim has a witness in his favor, and neither the victim or his witness makes any sense in their statements about us being liable. This is what she told me.
