court papers

I've been reading on this site for a few weeks as my son has a court hearing/custody case coming up. Anyway, was following this thread and thought some might find the actual court papers from this case interesting.

That's the whole point though. Your dad was wise enough to know that he couldn't. He was wise enough to know the limits of his ability to make rules.

He can't force an 18 year old to do anything. He can, however, show you to the door if you don't want to comply.

I would suspect yes. 18 or 30, the laws wouldn't be any different.

Assuming you are correct and they are "tenants" would the parent's lose the legal authority to limit their activities within the house or who they have over just like a normal landlord?

What leads you to believe that landlords don't have those same rights?

Unless it's specifically banned by the lease / rental agreement or it's illegal, I highly doubt a landlord could make you do, or not do something.

I would assume most new 18 year olds still living at home do not have a signed rental agreement with their parents.

If it's not in the lease, that only means that the landlords have not elected to exercise those rights, but not that they don't have the rights in the first place.
