$873 a month on 2 isn't much at all. My husband was paying $530 a month on 1 child that he didn't get to talk to, write to or see for over a year....and he made about $50k a year before taxes. Medical and dental were 100% covered due to the fact that we are military. I agree with what the others have said...look at your paperwork and see what the age is that is the cutoff date for the support, then try getting a modification. The worst that can happen is that it will be rejected.

This thread needs to be killed.

Why don't we just cut the damn kids in half and send each parent their 'share'. Then no support at all.

These people should practice retroactive birth control.

Hmmmmm which half should I give my hubby? LMAO!!!They both have their bad sides...I don't know if I prefer the screaming No No No half or the poopy one :S Decisions decisions. And I am still bummed over the pretzels.

There are so many variables, it's untrue. Cost of living between (for example) Appalachia and Seattle are going to vary HUGELY. Yes, the lifestyle of the children (and therefore the CS) is going to vary HUGELY between a corporate CEO and a teacher. Getting all pissy about the actual numbers is pretty silly because everyone is in a different situation.

Are you a jerk or WHAT, you are going to spite your daughter just to get back at the woman YOU laid down with? How is that the kids fault. Granted you dont HAVE to pay for college, but that statement is typical of a man

put yourself in my shoes. my leech drags me through court and soaks me for $1400 a month, all the while interfering somehow with every visit when I fly 3000 miles just to spend every last day of vacation I get for the year with my daughter.

typical of a man eh?

I realize it takes at least $5000 a month to raise my 4-year-old daughter, but if she put even $200 away per month, she would end up with $100,000 in 18 years using a relatively low return rate of 8%

I just don't know though, she might have to move into a cardboard box if she only had $1200 per month tax-free to spend. woe to her!!

:D I hear ya strider......that's what I'm saying. Save some of what you DO get instead of blowing it because you have it, and then asking for more. Even people in very tight situations can put away a little every now and then. I do it.

Mindy,
You are going to be singing a different song soon, when your case is decided and sheltering your husband now, is not going to protect your children in the long run. Remember you filed for divorce because of the abuse that your husband was committing including beating your children and leaving welts and you were frightened that he would come near you after he was served and removed from your home.

You need a reality check, this is very codependent behavior and as nice and fair as you want to be to your husband, he will make promises he has no intention keeping or change overnight defending himself and you will be here again asking how you can get enough C/S to support your 4 children. Please get some help from some of the DV groups, they can assist you with counseling and other services call the national DV hotline 800-799-7233.

You got off cheap :D

(sorry folks, I just couldn't resist...........again :D)

you're joking right? (1400x12)/.75 is about the same as adding $22,400 to her pre-tax salary

if I could pop a baby out and add that to my salary I would be on the hunt! :p

like every good pendulum, the current sexual bias cannot stay with the women forever. I'll be standing here waiting when it swings back. I would ask the court to order her to pay me $1 child support per month just to prove that my leech would never pay ANY amount, based on principle. :D

you're joking right?

If you ask any of the regulars here you'll know I'm not kidding.

Plus the fact that I have $150,000 in an account for each girl to attend college and a trust fund for each when they turn 25.

Sometimes you take on the responsibility of children whether or not they come with a mother.

Strider...

I bet if you did that, your ex would be like my hubby's ex. We got custody...within a week she quit her job. She whined and moaned and lied and took us to court, where she got caught in every little lie. Got ordered to pay CS and she split...hasn't contacted her daughter in over a year and is now on the run from CSE. Little does she know that they are going to look in different places for her...starting with her Navy husband hehehehehehehehe.
