Jesus, do you have to take every single little wording so seriously

Yes. It’s a serious business with very serious money and serious consequences.

there's got to be better things you can spend time on, no?

Countering absurd “advice” given in a condescending manner is important. You’ve got people coming in here in trouble wanting real advice about what to do and you guys make fun of them and essentially tell them to just shut up and pay the fine. That’s not advice; that’s nothing more than bullying. When I come along and expose your silly shallow game, you get all upset.

FREE speeding LIMIT as in free limit, no limit.,

That’s an oxymoron. If you mean unrestricted speeds, just say so. Don’t play stupid word games. Words are important and must be used precisely and with great care. They can be used to soothe a sick child or instigate a war.

What's the point, you don't get anything that anyone writes here anyway,

Oh, I get it. You just don’t like the answer.

. . .facts are we do have speeding limits so if it's because of politics is beside the point.

No, that IS the point. People are dying unnecessarily and we’re costing ourselves about $200 billion a year because of poor limits.

The limits are as likely to disappear as drunk drivers

That’s OK; I can live with that as long as they’re set scientifically. Otherwise, they are dangerous and counterproductive.

You can preach all you want about getting rid of speed limits, it's a frightening thought to want Formula 1 races on public roads with pedestrian crossings and school districts, but that's your wish.

You just don’t get it. First, I don’t need you to supply my argument for me. Keep your Straw Men to yourself. Removing limits on appropriate sections of roadway would be nice but I’m willing to compromise with scientifically set limits. Nobody has said anything about Formula 1 races or any kind of racing on public roads so you’ve thrown in a red herring as well. Also, the roads where higher speeds are appropriate do not have pedestrians or schools or business or houses. Yet, you have to go and add them in a disingenuous move. All I want to see done is to make the extant speeds legal as well as safe and productive.

Please don't claim people that don't agree with you are ignorant.

No, you’re not ignorant about this because you disagree with me but because you just don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Whether you disagree with me or not is unimportant.

It's a free country, I can think what I want.......same as you.

However, this argument goes well beyond merely expressing opinions. Opinions unsupported by facts are worthless. You may hold them as dear as you wish but others may criticize you for doing so.

This James Young twit reminds me of the spoiled 2nd grader who just has to be the center of attention.

Attention does nothing for me. What I want is to be right and I strive very hard to assure that I am right through advanced education, reading, skepticism, scientific methodology, logic, and reasoning.

Personally, I am going to treat him like you always treat a spoiled child who holds their breath until noticed. Simply ignore him. He will hopefully realize that he isn't getting attention from anyone... and go away.

As long as the snide and condescending “advice” continues to be posted, I’ll counter it. You guys probably don’t even realize you’re doing it. You post bull**** and then have a faux indignant reaction when I call it.

Lets all wave goodbye to 'James Young'.... at least until he returns to the post asking what to do about being sued by the victims that are injured because of his ignorance..... and arrogance.

Do you really believe I’d trust you guys to give advice on how to get to the corner much less real legal advice? Your credibility is zero. I’ve exposed your silly little game and you can’t stand it. Ignorance coupled with arrogance especially backed by a badge is a deadly combination.

For the record: I’m approaching my second million miles of driving over 47 years. Zero at-fault crashes. Advanced driving instruction including lots of focus on ATTENTION and CONTROL. Perhaps a dozen citations, all for speeding, never for “speed too fast for conditions.” I take my driving very seriously. I don’t impede faster traffic. Every driver should be as successful.

What a whiney, sniveling little twit.
"OH!! OH!!! LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!!!", I just love your societal malfunction.

You know what, if you stop speeding, you can spend all that money on more fun things, ever thought of that?

I'm on the same roads as you speeding violaters, so YES I DO KNOW WHAT THE HELL I'M TALKING ABOUT. Don't be so f-ing condesending and think you're God all mighty.
And for you thinking that all posts here are "serious", give me a break, plenty of them are just about how to get off paying a traffic ticket.
If you analyse this post too, you will prove exactly what I already know about you. If you're so against speeding limits, do something about it and stop whining on a message board which will get you nowhere when it comes to letting everyone drive as fast as they want.

You will not get thru to this guy. Honestly, he thinks he has an open mind, but most people see thru that.

I can appreciate some work analysts do. But most of them have a one track mind. That is what makes them so good at what they do. However, this guy thinks he is actually being productive.

Huh, interesting what the first four letters of his job represent. And I'm not referring to the word policy either.

No, because I have not been cited in about ten years and have only paid perhaps $500 to $1,000 in fines over my driving career. Even at the higher number, that’s about $21 a year and faster speeds save me a hundred times that.

On top of that, my income is excellent, my debt is zero, my kids are both grown, and I’m a widower whose expenses are minimal.

I'm on the same roads as you speeding violaters, so YES I DO KNOW WHAT THE HELL I'M TALKING ABOUT.

Oh really? Exactly how does driving the same roads as speeders qualify you to speak authoritatively about the traffic flow/traffic safety system?

Don't be so f-ing condesending and think you're God all mighty.

Don’t like it when the roles are reversed, do you?

And for you thinking that all posts here are "serious", give me a break, plenty of them are just about how to get off paying a traffic ticket.

No such assertion has ever been made. Isn’t that the purpose of the forum, how to deal with traffic tickets? “Quit whining and pay the fine” is poor advice. And the stupid cop humor just adds insult to injury.

If you analyse [sic] this post too, you will prove exactly what I already know about you.

So?

If you're so against speeding limits, do something about it and stop whining on a message board which will get you nowhere when it comes to letting everyone drive as fast as they want.

I have. The NMA, several local organizations and I got the NMSL rescinded. That saves about $200 billion a year. It also saves countless lives. I’m proud of that work. What is particularly pleasing is that not only were we correct in our assertions, but the special interests supporting lower limits – NHTSA, IIHS, enforcement agencies everywhere, insurance companies, and courts across the nation – were egregiously wrong, embarrassed as frauds, and have lost much of their former influence.

The immediate argument at bar is the fraud of the traffic control/citation system. The question is, “Is the current policy of enforcement of extant traffic law an effective method of controlling and improving traffic safety?” The answer is sadly a resounding, “No.”

Not with your extant argument.

If you can present a valid argument to support the current assertions – primarily traffic safety depends on controlling speed through enforcement -- I’ll be happy to listen to you and evaluate that policy. I'll even outline what you need to do to prove your case.

I can appreciate some work analysts do. But most of them have a one track mind. That is what makes them so good at what they do.

That, by definition is wrong. Policy analysts must incorporate all of the factors that will affect the policy, its implementation and its success.

Huh, interesting what the first four letters of his job represent. And I'm not referring to the word policy either.

Even more telling is that you noticed and cared enough to comment.

You loose anyway, I have NEVER had any kind of traffic ticket. So, of you and me, who is the violator?
