Dad, there are some people who can navigate the legal system and successfully work their pro se magic with little, if any, guidance. And there some - and this isn't a bad thing or a negative or anybody's fault - who just need (truly NEED) to get an attorney on board.
Please, please, please do whatever it takes to hire an attorney.
I would hate - absolutely hate - to see you go around in circles like spinny.

He started out in the right (Mom upped and left without notice), but represented himself...and over a year later, he STILL hasn't seen his child. Because he messed up his case so badly that at this point I doubt even the best attorney can drag him out of the mire.
Get. An. Attorney. Get two more jobs. Sell stuff. Whatever it takes.
